Trump’s up, Bernie’s down: That’s the takeaway from yesterday’s somewhat dysfunctional New York primaries, which the real estate heir and Hillary Clinton won easily. (The Empire State Building commemorated Trump’s win by turning a demonic blood-red.) Trump still seems like a longshot to get the 1,237 pledged delegates he’ll need to win the GOP nomination on the first convention ballot, but he’s still the race’s clear leader; we’ve raised the Trump Apocalypse Watch danger level back up to two horsemen. Sanders, meanwhile, is pretty much mathematically out of it to the point that his campaign manager is making implausible claims about winning by flipping superdelegates. In other news:

  • Harriet Tubman will displace Andrew Jackson from the front of the $20 bill. (There will still be some sort of image of Jackson on the back.)
  • Barack Obama should displace Thomas Jefferson from the nickel, he argued with tongue only somewhat in cheek.
  • 2016 is ridiculously, ridiculously warm.
  • A court ruled that Norwegian mass killer Anders Breivik has been treated inhumanely even though he lives in a three-room suite equipped with a treadmill, a TV, and more.
  • Three Michigan officials were charged criminally for their involvement in the Flint water crisis. Further prosecutions might be on the way.
  • And Ted Cruz said a funny but not particularly outrageous thing about America being a woman on her back. (The context is important.)
Have a good night out there!
